Yeah. That really fits.
I wanted to do something. Cause I havn't done anything in a while. I hated this painting when I first started it. And I'm not quite sure but I think I still do. Just because it hurts so much to sit and work on something for a long time and it was done during a quote "difficult" time.
My scanner cut off a few centimeters on the top and bottom and it had cut off a few more on the sides. I didn't want to scan it in four times so I just scanned it so the sides weren't cut off.
It looks a little better in person, the colours are a little more vibrant.
Oh and I tipped over a bottle of ink. I was mad.
Steps:
- sketch
- lightly inked some of the tattoos.
- Watercoloured most of the solid parts (skin, wings)
- Watercolour-penciled the detailed portions
- Inked everything again
- use a brown-black wash to get the dull look ( the ink bleeds when you paint over it)
Oh and people. When ink says its waterproof? it's not
For having had such a difficult time, this piece is amazing! I love all of the little extras around the angel. I know exactly how you feel when you've worked so hard on something, and it doesn't end up how you imagined. Or when stuff like ink bottles tipping and things 'melting' away. I think you did a wonderful job!

I love this! the girl looks so urbany! the feathers behind make abig contrast! the details are amazing and you have such a talent to choose the colors! and I like the stitches on her mouth it adds a lot of interest! good job!
Forgive me if I'm making assumptions, but I think this piece does a nice job of conveying frustration, fear, anger and pain...perhaps a glimpse of what you've been going through recently.
I like the sense of decay in this piece. Just the overall darkness to it. I like how even the angel wings seem to be falling apart. And those illustrations up top? The stuff of nightmares that is. Lots of crazy, kooky, twisted stuff...yes. I love it.
Lames "waterproof" ink.

Almira Gulch! Just because you own half the county doesn't mean you have the power to run the rest of us. For twenty-three years, I've been dying to tell you what I thought of you. And now, well, being a Christian woman, I can't say it.
So much talent in even your self-hated work. That's truth.
Alot of times the artist is blinded by the capability of it to be better.
But what you've actually put out is far from horrible.
Just be proud of what you actually HAVE made. Never put yourself down for what you DIDN'T create.

And as pathetic as it is..
I still believe in those fairy tales.

Well, that, and that thing you do with your tongue.
